"Four men arrived carrying a paralyzed man on a mat. They couldn't get to Jesus through the crowd, so they dug through the clay roof above his head. Then they lowered the sick man on his mat, right down in front of Jesus." Mark 2:3-4
The illustration above demonstrates the compassion these four men had for their friend. They saw a need and then did something about it by bringing their friend to Jesus.
This is why Horizons is preparing to launch a Local Missional Care Ministry called "The Mat", facilitated through Life Coaches and Physical Needs Teams that will focus on one of two fronts:
FIRST FRONT - Spiritual: We will be training Life Coaches who will focus on helping others that struggle with past hurts, challenging addictions and harmful habits in their lives.
SECOND FRONT - Physical: The Physical Needs Teams will be released to help meet the practical needs of people who have experienced set backs in life due to job loss or other devastating issues.
Consequently this new ministry, “THE MAT” will address both the spiritual and physical needs of people within our church family and local community. * Life Coach Training may be required if the ministry you are starting is considered a "high touch" ministry that meets spiritual and emotional needs. Please inquire with any questions or attend one of our Life Coach training programs.
