Getting Married at Horizons
We celebrate you and your decision to enter the lifelong commitment expressed through the covenant of marriage! We are committed to assisting Horizons Community Church (HCC) couples in preparing for your special day and your lifetime together.
Marriage preparation at HCC involves commitment by the couple to spiritual and relational development as well as actual wedding preparations. We will do our best to guide you through both of these processes. See "Planning Your Wedding" below.
Because of our commitment to marriage as a covenant between husband, wife and God, HCC requires that each couple complete a several month marriage preparation process. We also have the following expectations of couples to be considered for marriage at HCC:
- Both partners of the couple are in a growing and personal relationship with Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
- The couple is not living together and is honoring God through the practice of sexual purity (abstinence). See "Prerequisites" below
- The minimal connection with HCC expected is for the couple to have attended a worship celebration at least two times per month for six months prior to their marriage preparation, and to continue this pattern in the months leading up to and following their wedding.
- Couples who want to be married at HCC as their "home church" but are out of the area due to school, military service or job location will be considered if you are connected to a local faith community in the area in which you live.
- The couple will fully participate in the marriage preparation process and ideally complete the process one month prior to the wedding date.
